Vault compared with Finary

Finary is a wealth tracker that aggregates your bank, brokerage and crypto accounts and keeps them updated for you. Vault connects to nothing and asks you to state what you own. The trade is real in both directions: Finary costs you a set of account connections and a database that can read your balances, and saves you the upkeep. Vault costs you a few minutes a month and cannot read a single figure you enter.

When Finary is the better choice

If your assets sit in accounts Finary can connect to, and you want a total that updates without you touching it, Finary will serve you better and Vault will feel like homework. Its coverage of European banks and brokers is genuinely good, and the connections are made through regulated aggregators rather than by asking you for passwords in a text box. Choose Vault when you would rather nobody — including us — be able to read the figures, or when the assets that matter most to you are ones no connector can see.
